Vintage Rows Ribbon Cutting
Hoppe Development hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Vintage Rows, a groundbreaking 55-unit mixed-income neighborhood in Lexington designed for seniors. The event marked the completion of the first phase, which includes 35 affordable rental units for households with at least one member aged 55 or older.
Vintage Rows is a unique community that blends affordable and market-rate housing, offering both rental and ownership options side by side. It features thoughtful amenities such as a walking trail and pond, outdoor senior exercise equipment, and a community center, all designed to promote an active and social lifestyle. This innovative approach serves as a model for integrating diverse housing needs into a single neighborhood.
“Vintage Rows represents a novel way to meet diverse senior housing needs, where affordable housing and amenities are both considered community assets,” said Fred Hoppe, Principal of Hoppe Development. He emphasized the importance of partnerships, adding, “We appreciate the collaboration with the City of Lexington, who has worked with us creatively to support both affordable rental and ownership opportunities.”
The first phase of Vintage Rows includes 35 affordable senior rental units supported by the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority. It also plans for approximately 20 affordable for-sale homes with zero-entry designs, making them ideal for aging in place. The project is backed by various organizations, including the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and the Midwest Housing Equity Group.
Attendees at the event praised the development’s impact. “This neighborhood isn’t just housing; it’s a community,” one participant remarked. Vintage Rows exemplifies how thoughtful design and collaboration can address housing needs while fostering a sense of belonging for seniors in Lexington.
